The Pineapple

  1. Begin with wet hair and divide the hair from left to right and secure the top section with a large clip or rubber band for future use.
  2. Take the bottom section and divide again into three sections from left to right. With the upper two sections now divided, secure them with a rubber band.
  3. With the very bottom section, part it in half from top to bottom.
  4. Take one side and smooth the hair with a comb and place a secure rubber band around that section.
  5. Repeat to other side.
  6. Release the section above the now complete bottom section and divide into three sections from top to bottom.
  7. Take the bottom two hair sections and split the hair in half.
  8. Take the first section in the second row and add half of the ponytail from below it.
  9. With the middle section smooth the hair with a comb and the add half of each of the ponytails on the very bottom.
  10. With the far right section of the second row add half of the bottom ponytail and smooth and secure with a rubber band. (At this point you should start to see the beginnings of a zig-zag pattern. Please refer to the pictures for further clarification.)
  11. Now taking the third row divide the hair into four sections from top to bottom.
  12. Repeat the process used on the last row.
  13. Now beginning with the top half of hair you will continue what steps you used in the past three rows. The only exceptions are: After separating the top section of hair into TWO rows, the bottom row of the top section is only divided three times, and the very top row is divided at an angle into two sections. You will begin on the top row of the top section and work your way to the bottom of the top section. Keep in mind that all the hair has to end in the center of the head for a ponytail.
  14. On the last row, once each section of hair is secure with a rubber band, take all the hair and gather in the center of the head and secure with a rubber band.
  15. At this point you have a few choices, you can either leave it as a ponytail and be done, or take the ponytail and twist it into a "Ballerina bun", Braid the hair, or do as the picture shows and do a messy bun.
  16. If you are looking to do a messy bun, first you take another rubber band and wrap it around the ponytail again except don't fully pull the hair all the way through, then continue to wrap the rubber band around the hair section in different spots. Next take some sections of the hair and pull on them to give the bun some dimension.
  17. Add a pretty flower or ribbon to the ponytail, braid, or bun....You are finished!

    Completion time: approx. 20 min.
